Africa’s Forgotton Commodity: Vinyl

I used to be a DJ. I’m a huge fan of electronic music and for a while I thought I’d make it my career. But although it wasn’t so, I still have a huge affinity for DJ culture. So, although it’s not exactly tech related I had to report on this story, it’s a short film about a German DJ searching for ‘forgotten’ records in West Africa.

On that note, I should also mention another film I saw in San Francisco just before I sat in on a meeting about microformats with Tantek Celik the creator of the aggregation service Technorati. The film was called Sliding Liberia and it was all about this student from the States teaching kids in Liberia about surfing. You can view that trailer below.
