Gorilla.cd Blogging a Crisis in Realtime

If you haven’t been following gorilla.cd over the past few days, it’s an incredible account of what’s occurring in the DRC right now as told by park Rangers at Virunga National Park. As fighting between rebel groups and the military increased there were stories of rangers who were unaccounted for after an evacuation, near-tragic attacks on families and dramatic rescue attempts.

It’s important not to diminish the effect blogging in a time of crisis can have on a situation. It humanizes events far more than watching a report on SkyNews or CNN and allows people abroad to relate. In the case of Gorilla.cd, it’s helped them raise over 17,000USD in only six days; money that can save lives and give much needed peace of mind to the families of the missing.

Although the fighting has apparently reached a cease-fire, visit Gorrilla.cd for perspective from the ground about the latest conflict in Congo.
