MIH was an early investor in Tencent and is currently the biggest stockholder, therefore QQ's IM application has also been launched in South Africa. The operations are only very small though, it did not catch on and the versions are not supported anymore.

Very interesting Jon. Thank you.

By the way, with regards to QQ and Tencents. I stand to be corrected but QQ may have started off in South Africa or at least I remember MIH/Naspers trying to push it through their community of Multichoice/DSTV subscribers.

Take a look MIH (a SouthA frican company's) structure here - <a href="http://www.naspers.com/index.cfm?content=2693&intParentContentID=2636 " target="_blank">http://www.naspers.com/index.cfm?content=2693&amp...</a>

you will notice that they have 35% stake in Tencent
