Mobile Industry is the Future of Digital Marketing

Wow, the mobile industry is twelve 0’s after the 1, 1 trillion dollars. This is very significant and it defines the future of digital marketing.

Here are some statistics to indicate this predicted future…

- Presently, 46% of the world’s population owns a mobile phone, that is 3.05 billion people, far above only 1.4 billion TV sets. There is also 2 billion color screen mobile phones that can stream live TV through their 2.5G network.

- Nokia is the world’s bestselling camera brand since 2004.

- Music on mobile phones is over 11 billion dollars almost half the 30 billion dollar global music industry, meaning that 1 in 3 dollars spent on music globally is spent on mobile phone. In addition, 50 cent
earned more in his ring tone sale of crazy frog in 2005, earning more than all iTunes’ global sales that year.

- 1.3million people send MMS (Multi Media Messages). This year (2008) mobile social media passed $9 billion. In the past ten years, mobile content has grown to 71 billion dollars.

- There are however under 500 million newspapers sold daily, 900 million personal computers connected to the internet and 1.3 billion internet users. By the end of this year 1.5 billion people will receive ads on their mobile phones, and next year will be bigger.

- This is all indicative that mobile advertising is the emerging and dynamic advertising platform of this century.
