  • Day 2 went just as planned. Code was shared, tips were given and presentations filled the day as the first ever Barcamp in Uganda came to a close. This was the day specifically targeting developers and programmers and it worked. There were presentations on JQuery, Subversion, DNS Vulnerabilities, Social Protocols for Web Apps, eBox and Designing Websites for Low Bandwidth Users.

We started at 10:00am and by 12:00am we were back to a fairly full room. There were about 30 people there in total, which could be expected because it was ‘Developer Day’ which means all the presentations were completely technical and pretty nerdy. Still, most of the audience hung with us until the very end when (once again) no one wanted to leave.

It turns one of the campers did shoot video of the debate on Google’s presence in East Africa…

Slides from the presentations on “Appfrica.org”, “Version Control” and “Web Applications and Social Protocols”:

More slides, notes, pictures and other details from the full two day conference are available for download at http://wiki.appfrica.net.

A wrap-up dinner followed at the Makerere Guest house afterwards…
