Update: Kampala Riots Continue

My last update showed just how chaotic the scene is here on the ground in Kampala. When the violence quiets in one place, there’s news that it’s started up elsewhere. Although, from where I sit it would appear to be just another day, taking a look at Twitter shows a flurry of reports. The mainstream news has picked up on what’s going on but local press has been shut down. Either due to too much traffic (web) or otherwise. So many of us, expats or not are relying on Twitter for information. In particular from these people: @mugumya @solomonking @camaraafrica @UgandaTalks

As of this message, the Independent website is down but there’s some great information from Rougeking and Ushahidi has just launched an instance.

Blackweb 2.0 reported about Kirk Franklin’s incident yesterday.

Here’s a round-up of who to follow on Twitter for information.

Uganda Telecom is offering free Twitter ussage for Ugandans. Send ‘tweetme’ to 2299 from anywhere within Uganda, and you’ll get the instructions to sign up.
